I didn't realize this was in the knapsack solver only. I somehow thought it happened before the algo 20:37 < sipa> i didn't check; but that sort of logic sounds like the kind of hacks i expect in the knapsack solver :) 20:38 < kallewoof> Yeah.. That's because I wrote this code before the BnB merge. 20:38 < kallewoof> I'm gonna remove it from the PR for now with a potential follow-up that adds it if it seems warranted. 20:39 < sipa> sgtm; i'll review more in a couple hours 20:44 -!- BashCo [~BashCo@unaffiliated/bashco] has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer] 20:46 -!- BashCo [~BashCo@unaffiliated/bashco] has joined #bitcoin-core-dev 21:23 -!- ken2812221 [~ken281222@1.200.202.10] has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 21:24 -!- ken2812221 [~ken281222@1.200.202.10] has joined #bitcoin-core-dev 21:30 < bitcoin-git> [bitcoin] masonicboom opened pull request #13698: doc: Document contributing a scripted diff (master...scripted-diff-docs) https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/13698 21:40 -!- Krellan [~Krellan@2601:640:4000:9258:1da5:3584:1e53:4e3a] has joined #bitcoin-core-dev 21:48 -!- farmerwampum [~farmerwam@88.202.178.98] has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer] 21:48 -!- farmerwampum [~farmerwam@88.202.178.98] has joined #bitcoin-core-dev 21:49 -!- ken2812221 [~ken281222@1.200.202.10] has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds] 21:53 -!- farmerwampum [~farmerwam@88.202.178.98] has quit [Client Quit] 21:53 -!- farmerwampum [~farmerwam@88.202.178.98] has joined #bitcoin-core-dev 22:11 -!- Eliel_ [~jojkaart@104-250-47-212.rev.cloud.scaleway.com] has joined #bitcoin-core-dev 22:12 -!- bitconner [~conner@64-71-8-130.static.wiline.com] has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds] 22:13 -!- AaronvanW [~AaronvanW@unaffiliated/aaronvanw] has joined #bitcoin-core-dev 22:15 -!- Nebraskka_ [~Nebraskka@178.62.130.190] has joined #bitcoin-core-dev 22:16 -!- AaronvanW [~AaronvanW@unaffiliated/aaronvanw] has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 22:16 -!- Netsplit *.net <-> *.split quits: Krellan 22:16 -!- Netsplit *.net <-> *.split quits: pierre_rochard, epic, pindarhk_, rodarmor, Nebraskka, bosma, mturquette, delpa^, mariorz, CryptAxe, (+5 more, use /NETSPLIT to show all of them) 22:18 -!- Dyaheon [~Dya@dsl-trebng21-58c19c-197.dhcp.inet.fi] has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds] 22:22 -!- Dyaheon [~Dya@dsl-trebng21-58c19c-197.dhcp.inet.fi] has joined #bitcoin-core-dev 22:22 -!- delpa^ [~punch@8.12.28.87] has joined #bitcoin-core-dev 22:23 -!- sugarpuff [sid92283@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-vcbqidjyearfzjvk] has joined #bitcoin-core-dev 22:26 < AHemlocksLie> I'm interested in getting involved and making some contributions, but I've never worked on an open source project like this. What's the best way to jump in? How do I make sure I'm not working on something that's already got 3 other people on it? What can I do to make my work more likely to be accepted so I don't waste time accidentally going against the project? 22:28 < kallewoof> AHemlocksLie: start off reading all the docs you can find on github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin in particular the developer docs and contributor guidelines. Then look at pull requests people have made and get a feel for how the process works. To actually do something, I suggest actually using the software. You run into things you want to improve and then you work on that. 22:28 < kallewoof> If your C++ is weak, you should work on that too, of course. 22:29 < AHemlocksLie> It's rusty, but I used to be decent. Should be able to brush up again.
