22:15 < lsneff> afaik, it’s standard in the us to take a multiple choice exam to get a permit, and then a driving exam to get your actual license
22:17 < fenn> yes, and there are schools that teach you how to drive safely and they also give the exam
22:18 < fenn> look before you change lanes, how to position your hands on the wheel, that sort of thing

22:19 < fenn> watching how truckers strategically position themselves to have a clear spot to move over in case there's a hidden car approaching the on-ramp, i realized there's a lot more depth to being a pro driver
