Ivan_@kanzure, An update on the ultrasound project from my side, we have got the basic components for the initial proposed design, but upon further investigation of the Murgen project system, I found that they had an additional component whihc we currently do not have. That is an IC for the receiver front end that has a Low Noise Amp and a Variable Gain Control.00:48
Ivan_The LNA is critical in RF systems, as it sets the tone for the overall system Signal to Noise Ratio and the VGA is needed as the power that is received from the signals that penetrate deeper into the tissue are lower (due to more travel distance) so the VGA essentially brings the returns to a similar level.00:52
Ivan_Now, we are also thinking if we can do this in software, by having a ADC that has a high dynamic range and at the same time I am also looking at the Integrated solutions that the major manufacturers are providing. TI/Maxim Integrated/Analog Devices all have dedicated components for the front end, so want to see if we can simplify the final design by going for a well priced integrated solution.00:55

chris_99does anyone know what a crt rejuvenator actually does, out of interest15:06
kanzurejrayhawk has spent a bunch of time contemplating the nature and existence of CRTs so i'm sure he has some sort of answer15:06
chris_99heh cool15:07
jrayhawkI'm actually very poorly versed in the realm of CRT technicianry.15:09
kanzurewell, then we can bug seanph when he's around.15:09
jrayhawkWith modernish CRTs, convergence and porch alignment are mostly automated, but I could see a lot more calibration being useful for old stuff.15:10
chris_99i just found https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kgy7CCsEBQ they seem to indicate they put more power through the gun than normal to get rid of debris seemingly15:11
chris_99http://www.avsforum.com/forum/16-crt-projectors/598829-crt-rejuvenator.html mentions something similar15:16
chris_99"Often the cathode is contaminated. But normal beam currents will not break this contamination loose. The sencore uses an elevated current "Shot" to blast some material off the cathode to expose still viable material. "15:16
