My understanding is the theory is there but very hard to do in practice so they’re exploring alternative mechanisms that are more practical. 07:08 < waxwing> gotcha. presumably the theory being based on shamir style stuff? (polynomials), but it absolutely doesn't surprise me if it's decidedly non trivial. but, we fallback to MAST things, i take it, for the cases where there is not a combinatorial blowup. albeit that has its privacy loss tradeoff. 07:12 -!- stacie [~stacie@c-24-60-139-217.hsd1.ma.comcast.net] has quit [Quit: My computer has gone to sleep.] 07:26 -!- mryandao [~mryandao@gateway/tor-sasl/mryandao] has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 07:27 -!- mryandao [~mryandao@gateway/tor-sasl/mryandao] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 07:45 -!- michaelfolkson [~textual@2a00:23c7:688a:cc00:846d:d55c:424c:3efe] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 08:04 -!- michaelfolkson [~textual@2a00:23c7:688a:cc00:846d:d55c:424c:3efe] has quit [Quit: Sleep mode] 08:22 -!- michaelfolkson [~textual@2a00:23c7:688a:cc00:846d:d55c:424c:3efe] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 08:34 -!- HighOnBtc [~Admin@86.121.55.235] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 08:37 < sipa> waxwing: my understanding is that there isn't much specific to musig in the context of threshold signatures 08:38 < sipa> as in: if you have a secure threshold scheme it can probably be adapted to work with musig-derived kwys too 08:39 < sipa> the question is more what security properties are proven for treshold schemes in general, and it seems the theory is laxking quite a bit... common schemes are only secure with k k waxwing: andytoshi had a gist 09:23 < kanzure> no.. not a gist. nevermind. 09:39 -!- michaelfolkson [~textual@2a00:23c7:688a:cc00:846d:d55c:424c:3efe] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 09:42 -!- michaelfolkson [~textual@2a00:23c7:688a:cc00:846d:d55c:424c:3efe] has quit [Client Quit] 09:42 -!- jonatack [~jon@2a01:e35:8aba:8220:6627:dad:d967:649d] has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds] 09:44 -!- michaelfolkson [~textual@2a00:23c7:688a:cc00:846d:d55c:424c:3efe] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 09:46 -!- michaelfolkson [~textual@2a00:23c7:688a:cc00:846d:d55c:424c:3efe] has quit [Client Quit] 09:46 -!- hebasto [~hebasto@95.164.65.194] has quit [Quit: ZNC 1.6.6+deb1ubuntu0.2 - http://znc.in] 09:48 -!- hebasto [~hebasto@95.164.65.194] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 09:56 -!- HighOnBtc [~Admin@86.121.55.235] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 10:05 -!- r251d [~r251d@162-196-59-192.lightspeed.irvnca.sbcglobal.net] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 10:23 -!- andytoshi [~apoelstra@unaffiliated/andytoshi] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 10:31 -!- yaslama [~yaslama@bzq-218-78-150.red.bezeqint.net] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 11:51 -!- jonatack [~jon@2a01:e35:8aba:8220:6627:dad:d967:649d] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 13:04 -!- HighOnBtc [~Admin@86.121.55.235] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 13:18 -!- b10c [~Thunderbi@muedsl-82-207-236-105.citykom.de] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 13:42 -!- mryandao_ [~mryandao@gateway/tor-sasl/mryandao] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 13:43 -!- mryandao [~mryandao@gateway/tor-sasl/mryandao] has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds] 14:04 -!- alon-e [uid402705@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-cffbbdmjjfplcyzb] has joined ##taproot-bip-review 15:17 -!- HighOnBtc [~Admin@86.121.55.235] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 15:19 < nickler> waxwing: https://github.com/ElementsProject/secp256k1-zkp/pull/46/files#diff-286bf85b94befb0c9cf796503abf9f45 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy5jpgmmqAg 15:50 -!- b10c [~Thunderbi@muedsl-82-207-236-105.citykom.de] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 15:51 < waxwing> nickler thanks 18:07 -!- pinheadmz [~matthewzi@pool-100-33-69-78.nycmny.fios.verizon.net] has quit [Quit: pinheadmz] 20:34 -!- pinheadmz [~matthewzi@pool-100-33-69-78.nycmny.fios.verizon.net] has joined ##taproot-bip-review
