00:05 < laanwj> you can link with -static and make it produce a binary that pretends to be static, but it will still rely on some run-time loaded component from glibc for DNS resolution (i think), so it won't actually be more portable
00:07 < laanwj> the musl-linked bitcoind should be able to run in a chroot or other rootfs container without any installed libraries
00:14 < laanwj> it just needs the kernel and some configuration files (possibly only /etc/resolv.conf?) and device nodes like /dev/null, that's all
