22:44 < laanwj> yeah for some ancient mostly no longer relevant reasons, configuration is a two-step process
22:45 < laanwj> where the first ./autogen part needs to scribble in your build tree, the ./configure part can be done out of tree

22:56 < laanwj> meh, just adding unnecessary step between git and tarring the source, i have enough criticisms of cmake as well but at least they simplified that
23:00 < laanwj> luke-jr: right, there are binaries in there as well, but i think we explicitly strip them out and keep only headers + stub libs, not sure though
