10:57 < belcher> MaxSan while bitcoind is running, on the command line run `netstat -l` which will give you a list of open tcp ports, one of them should be 8332 which is the bitcoin RPC port

11:00 < belcher> if 8332 isnt there then for some reason bitcoind isnt listening for RPC connections, and you need to fiddle around with bitcoin.conf until it does
