Gen. But I was in the second raw. 03:58 < waxwing> ok, good to hear. sounds like as long as you're careful to make it big, it's OK. 04:20 -!- undeath [~undeath@hashcat/team/undeath] has joined #joinmarket 04:42 -!- slivera [~slivera@217.138.204.102] has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 05:33 < kristapsk> after this presentation I'm first time really start to think about this VR stuff (Google Cardboard with iPhone 5S doesn't count, and it sucks, resolution on 5S is so small, you can see frame) 05:34 < kristapsk> so, is there any headsets I could connect to my laptop (built-in [AMD/ATI] Topaz XT [Radeon R7 M260/M265 / M340/M360 / M440/M445] GPU) and that supports Linux? 06:13 < waxwing> it's really tough for a couple of reasons. (1) most things are totally windows focused (2) a lot of things are largely out of stock. 06:13 < emzy> I would go with a sandalone one. I love linux but for my VR I use Windows. Nearly every Sofware/Game only runs on Windows. And you need a realy fast PC. On Steam is a test progam to test if you PC is fast enoug for HTC Vive, first test with it. 06:13 < waxwing> the obvious way to address (1) is to use Oculus Quest but it's hard to get hold of. 06:19 -!- MaxSan [~four@185.156.175.59] has quit [Quit: Leaving.] 06:32 < kristapsk> keeping separate Windows machine just for VR seems to be overkill 06:33 < kristapsk> I don't play modern games, Heroes of Might and Magic III works fine on Linux under Wine :) 06:33 < kristapsk> (there's actually old Linux port for heroes3 too, but that's buggy and unstable, better to run Windows version under wine) 06:34 < qubenix> hmm, i wonder if it's possible with a windows vm on qubes. i guess i would have to pass my gpu there. 06:35 < undeath> iirc oculus has some device that can be used standalone and connected to a pc but it probably only supports windows then 06:36 < waxwing> i mean if you object to using windows on basis of proprietariness, then Quest isn't a solution, since it's completely facebook owned. but if you just don't like using windows, Quest being standalone as emzy says is really an obvious go-to. it's also being sold at rock bottom price for what it is ($400). which is why it's sold out :) 06:37 -!- Glenna86Raynor [~Glenna86R@ns334669.ip-5-196-64.eu] has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds] 06:41 < kristapsk> I could go with proprietary standalone device 06:41 < kristapsk> I'm already doing it with my iPhone anyways 06:42 < emzy> Keep in mind that you need to put out static 90 frames/sec and have super low latency. If not you get sick from using it and it will not fun at all. I have a new AMD CPU and a NVIDIA 1080. And is is running good. 06:44 < kristapsk> it looks UK Amazon has that Oculus Quest 128G for 500 GBP 08:43 -!- luke-jr [~luke-jr@unaffiliated/luke-jr] has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds] 08:47 -!- luke-jr [~luke-jr@unaffiliated/luke-jr] has joined #joinmarket 09:08 < kristapsk> any more ideas about this guy? bigger gaplimit didn't help him. seens coins as watch-only in bitcoin-qt, but don't see them in JM wallet. https://old.reddit.com/r/joinmarket/comments/f9qyra/coins_possibly_stuck_in_tumbler/ 10:41 < undeath> just in case he should make sure he's using the old, slow sync mode, what was it? --recoverysync? 10:42 < undeath> in combination with the increased gap limit of course 10:44 < undeath> i'm not exactly sure, but doesn't jm sometimes import some random addresses when you do a sweep or something? 10:44 < undeath> so you could have addresses in your bitcoin watch-only wallet that don't belong to your jm wallet? 11:11 -!- ChanServ [ChanServ@services.] has quit [shutting down] 11:18 -!- ChanServ [ChanServ@services.] has joined #joinmarket 11:18 -!- ServerMode/#joinmarket [+o ChanServ] by cherryh.freenode.net 11:55 -!- rdymac [uid31665@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-wpbtdmjvnxcrdzzh] has quit [Quit: Connection closed for inactivity] 12:25 -!- luke-jr [~luke-jr@unaffiliated/luke-jr] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 12:36 -!- luke-jr [~luke-jr@unaffiliated/luke-jr] has joined #joinmarket 13:41 -!- anon453 [41824ea9@65-130-78-169.slkc.qwest.net] has joined #joinmarket 14:08 -!- fiatjaf [~fiatjaf@2804:7f2:2980:90fa:ea40:f2ff:fe85:d2dc] has quit [Quit: WeeChat 2.6] 14:23 -!- slivera [~slivera@217.138.204.89] has joined #joinmarket 14:29 -!- fiatjaf [~fiatjaf@2804:7f2:2980:90fa:ea40:f2ff:fe85:d2dc] has joined #joinmarket 15:12 -!- belcher [~belcher@unaffiliated/belcher] has joined #joinmarket 15:26 -!- jonatack [~jon@2a01:e0a:53c:a200:bb54:3be5:c3d0:9ce5] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 16:05 -!- Zenton [~user@unaffiliated/vicenteh] has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds] 16:30 -!- undeath [~undeath@hashcat/team/undeath] has quit [Quit: WeeChat 2.7] 17:15 -!- anon453 [41824ea9@65-130-78-169.slkc.qwest.net] has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds] 17:41 -!- belcher [~belcher@unaffiliated/belcher] has quit [Quit: Leaving] 17:46 -!- DSRelBot [~DSRelBot@p5DE4A50F.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has joined #joinmarket 17:46 -!- DSRelBot_ [~DSRelBot@p54866FEF.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds] 17:47 -!- AgoraRelay [~jmrelayfn@p54866FEF.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds] 18:03 -!- AgoraRelay [~jmrelayfn@p5DE4A50F.dip0.t-ipconnect.de] has joined #joinmarket 20:42 < k3tan> just having a ponder out loud here. there's a new messaging app that claims to be decentralised called session app. they have built it on a shitcoin. they've explained that they need to use the shitcoin to protect against sybil attacks. could we use the theory applied in session for joinmarket? is it worth exploring? 20:45 < k3tan> in this blog post, they have explained 20:45 < k3tan> 1. why they use the shitcoin 20:45 < k3tan> 2. why they haven't used bitcoin (and why not even the lightning network) 20:45 < k3tan> https://getsession.org/how-session-protects-your-anonymity-with-blockchain-and-crypto/ 20:46 < k3tan> they forked monero btw 21:18 < takinbo> k3tan: it's still unclear to me why they need a shitcoin. you can still reward service nodes with bitcoin. if you choose to use a shitcoin that you created, how does it gain any value except that it can be exchanged for other things of value? 21:31 < k3tan> well i was proposing taking the same idea and using bitcoin (if possible), not creating a joinmarket shitcoin 23:16 < k3tan> i have a wallet.jmdat file on an old node. i'm wanting to transfer it over to a new node. can i just put the wallet.jmdat file into scripts/wallets and it's good to go? or do i have to bitcoin-cli rescanblockchain on the new node? --- Log closed Mon Mar 02 00:00:13 2020
