07:14 < waxwing> it's a bit messy, because although it's nice to have redundancy, if one of the N is constantly offline or even worse, unstable where you join and then it immediately kicks you, it's a headache for users. 07:14 < waxwing> (thinking of agora, if it's now working again) 07:23 < waxwing> lol it's insane that #536 has no merge conflicts 07:51 < qubenix> waxwing: hackint has been stable for me. i pretty much added it as soon as belcher reg'd the rooms. 07:52 < qubenix> i'm using the onion address 07:54 -!- Guadalupe82Olson [~Guadalupe@ns334669.ip-5-196-64.eu] has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds] 08:02 -!- vrana [~mvranic@gateway/tor-sasl/vrana] has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 08:02 -!- vrana [~mvranic@gateway/tor-sasl/vrana] has joined #joinmarket 08:04 < MaxSan> is there anyway to ping nodes to see how much a mix may cost, without actually having coins? like a dry run? 08:19 < undeath> MaxSan: the order book is public knowledge, the only uncertainty that remains is mining fees for you don't know how many utxos everyone is going to add 08:22 < MaxSan> I was mmre curious if there was a command for it, but I guess others wouldnt sign to see what they may do with no purpose 08:27 < undeath> I see, no such a feature is not implemented 08:45 < undeath> waxwing: big fan of #536 :) 08:56 -!- belcher_ [~user@unaffiliated/belcher] has quit [Ping timeout: 272 seconds] 09:11 < waxwing> good. there are some meaningful practical issues with it (like how the secp binding works and whatnot, and py 3.6 (maybe?). but right now i'm still working on testing and stuff. 09:19 -!- belcher_ [~user@unaffiliated/belcher] has joined #joinmarket 09:52 < undeath> py3.6 might be a little problematic. most linux distros have >=3.6 but one notable one that does not is debian oldstable 09:56 < undeath> regarding coincurve, I don't think we can easily get rid of it. it's needed for podle and it's possibly going to be needed for #415 10:04 < waxwing> well on the second point, it's just a question of whether the new binding exposes a multiplicative tweak; i can always PR that to python-bitcointx if necessary (need to check in a bit more detail) 10:04 < waxwing> but i agree by far the biggest potential sticking point here is py3.6. 10:05 < waxwing> if kanzure ends up actively maintaining python-bitcoinlib i think the transition between *tx and *lib may be fairly trivial, and i don't think that has a 3.6 dependency. 10:05 < waxwing> but i'm very uncertain about it since i like the feature set that *tx focused on. 10:07 < kanzure> yeah i've been looking at that 10:07 < kanzure> they seem to be doing an okay job... not sure if i should just redo their work, incorporate their work, or kill *lib 10:08 < waxwing> kanzure, right. have any thoughts on a strict py3.6 dependency? i had a suspicion which undeath appears to have confirmed that certain distros won't be supportable. 10:08 < waxwing> or i guess they can "just upgrade" ... ? 10:09 < kanzure> why are they doing that? 10:09 < kanzure> type annotations..? 10:09 < waxwing> i think so? 10:09 < kanzure> yeeaah i wouldn't want to require that 10:09 < kanzure> not yet 10:09 < kanzure> and besides, maybe it's in __future__ or something 10:09 < waxwing> sorry i'm not even au fait with type annotations, apart from just seeing it in code and surmising what it means 10:10 < waxwing> that was the obvious syntactical difference though, hence "i think so" 10:11 < kanzure> maybe we can convince petukhov to merge his efforts. he seems to be focused on multicoin functionality though. 10:12 < waxwing> yes i wondered about that. he does seem focused on it, but the arch is such that it's really only supporting bitcoin derivatives i guess. like forks. 10:12 < kanzure> introducing a breaking api change to support altcoins might be untenable :) 10:14 < waxwing> all i was really looking for was: (a) segwit support (b) bip32 support (c) a full libsecp binding, and no openssl ideally (d) ideally psbt or moving towards it 10:14 < undeath> bitcointx is using type annotations and format strings, both unsupported by py3.5 10:16 < undeath> there are no __future__ imports for either 10:25 < kanzure> waxwing: open a pull request? :) 10:43 < waxwing> kanzure, good one :) 10:49 < kanzure> hmph 10:57 < waxwing> not referring to PRs in general of course, just the idea of PRing all my wishlist. especially after spending weeks doing this JM PR... 10:58 < undeath> i'm not sure how widely used debian oldstable is. py3.6 is quite old already in itself 11:01 < undeath> it may affect some makers especially, but then, they can keep on using the older jm version 11:15 -!- openoms [~quassel@195.140.215.182] has joined #joinmarket 13:02 -!- rdymac [uid31665@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-ihnzojrnavrkpchn] has quit [Quit: Connection closed for inactivity] 13:26 -!- slivera [~slivera@116.206.228.243] has joined #joinmarket 14:12 -!- luke-jr [~luke-jr@unaffiliated/luke-jr] has quit [Quit: ZNC - http://znc.sourceforge.net] 14:14 -!- luke-jr [~luke-jr@unaffiliated/luke-jr] has joined #joinmarket 15:04 -!- slivera [~slivera@116.206.228.243] has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 15:26 -!- jonatack [~jon@2a01:e0a:53c:a200:bb54:3be5:c3d0:9ce5] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 15:50 -!- rdymac [uid31665@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-zmgpazckalnweozr] has joined #joinmarket 16:53 -!- undeath [~undeath@hashcat/team/undeath] has quit [Quit: WeeChat 2.7] 17:03 -!- thelounge1490 [~b816f0c7@67.205.143.82] has joined #joinmarket 17:09 < thelounge1490> what are the ways to reduce the fee (number of mixing rounds/participants) of tumbling for an acceptable privacy ?
