08:15 < tlo1337> im trying to launch the qt from command line, but after i run the script to launch it instead of loading the qt, it hangs after seemingly looking for user data at the location in the data directory (/home/<user>/.joinmarket) and then times out with a connection error. I am getting a connection error because i am trying something different than when i last loaded the qt. when i last loaded the qt i had a full node on my local 
08:15 < tlo1337> network, but external from my PC running JM using MyNode software. before i would add the local IP address of the node as the "rpc_host=" along with the rpcusername, rpcpassword and rpc wallet file and it would connect fine. BUT since then i had issues with my node. i tried re-downloading but to no avail i still had issues with the blockchain. so i decided to unplug that device that was running my node thinking i could just 
08:15 < tlo1337> spin up another full node without all the MyNode software on it and build a bare bones full node from scratch, and then connect JM to that one and have the qt and wallet load again. the new full node is setup, i believe, to allow remote rpc access, but im having a hard time connecting this new node to JM again and thus i can't load the qt and wallet again.

09:15 < waxwing> tlo1337, when you say it hangs, do you not see an error window saying 'cannot connect to bitcoind, configure joinmarket.cfg' or similar? afair you get that if the rpc call fails.
09:15 < waxwing> you don't need to restore the jmwallet.dat file if you have it and it's the same as before. it's just that on your new bitcoind instance you'll need to run rescan (specifically, run the version that only scans from a certain date to save time - it's explained in the message joinmarket shows you when you try to sync)
09:16 < waxwing> btw i don't know why you commented out server=1, you need that (afaik)
