Both the wallet and the node network run in a mock-blockchain-mode right now. Running against testnet (or even mainnet) is supported by just switching a flag in the Constants class 16:32 < krisives> matsjj: thanks took me a while to piece that together 16:32 < krisives> matsjj: i was just test driving the wallet .jar 16:33 < krisives> matsjj: it was able to open channels sometimes but i was not able to get payment through, but i see you responded on reddit ill give that a read first 16:33 < matsjj> Ah I suspected you were the one posting on reddit already ;) 16:34 < matsjj> Yes, I haven't looked at the nodes for a while, because so many people open payment channels and don't close them again they run out of balance every now and again (and they can't reclaim it yet) 16:35 < krisives> matsjj: i see, so the 1.0 balance is being pull essentailly from a wallet on the server that has testnet coins? 16:35 < krisives> matsjj: or does the server simply have some kind of mock balances available? 16:36 < krisives> matsjj: i ran it in a terminal and looked at the log while running, but i couldn't see any indication that sometimes opening a channel failed and sometimes it succeded 16:36 < matsjj> Both nodes and wallet use that mock blockchain implementation. It's a bit of a hassle to keep all those nodes full of balance all the time, especially as long as they can't claim it back yet. We need more algorithms that determine when to close a channel too. Just because someone is inactive is not a good reason to close the channel again 16:37 < matsjj> Hm thats weird though, from my observation it would normally send an error (that is displayed in the log) if it ran out of balance. I'll take a note on that 16:37 < krisives> matsjj: i can record a video if you want maybe im doing something wrong 16:38 < krisives> matsjj: its possible i just dont understand how the interface is supposed to work (although i did try lots of things over the hour) 16:38 < matsjj> Nah it could be that they failed to send the error or similar, thanks for the offer though! :) 16:38 < matsjj> Opening and closing channels should work perfectly fine now 16:38 < krisives> matsjj: also if i decide to hop in and run the code instead of the binary jar, is there a Eclipse project file to make setup easy? 16:39 < matsjj> I use intelliJ, I switched 9 months ago. I'm pretty sure you can just open the pom.xml file though with Eclipse 16:40 < matsjj> Should be as easy as starting the Main then as well, with maven dealing with the dependencies 16:40 < krisives> matsjj: I tried intelliJ when I ran Android Studio (which is based on intelliJ) but I had a ton of problems - could have been totally android related though 16:40 < matsjj> When was that? I remember giving android studio a try when it was new and it really had a lot of problems. Nothing like that anymore though 16:41 < krisives> matsjj: about a month ago - it kept getting stuck trying to build / "gradle" 16:41 < krisives> matsjj: im not on a very good machine right now sadly (main system is gone) 16:42 < matsjj> Hm might be related to android as well. It is really bloated with all the Android libraries in it, slowing it down. 16:42 < matsjj> Oh sorry for that 16:43 < matsjj> Java is not particularly easy to work with on low-power machine, have to admit that 16:54 -!- AaronvanW [~ewout@unaffiliated/aaronvanw] has joined #lightning-dev 17:11 -!- belcher [~user@unaffiliated/belcher] has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer] 17:11 -!- belcher [~user@unaffiliated/belcher] has joined #lightning-dev 17:13 -!- belcher [~user@unaffiliated/belcher] has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer] 17:45 -!- matsjj [~matsjj@my83-216-94-10.cust.relish.net] has quit [Remote host closed the connection] 17:51 -!- rusty [~rusty@pdpc/supporter/bronze/rusty] has joined #lightning-dev 18:56 < krisives> wb rusty 18:56 < rusty> krisives: did you find a tester? 19:01 -!- Ylbam [uid99779@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-pjolyyjrydqzyuok] has quit [Quit: Connection closed for inactivity] 19:01 < krisives> rusty: yes mat was on for a while i got it running in Eclipse and he explained the state of the network and the mock system 19:08 -!- jtimon [~quassel@4.28.134.37.dynamic.jazztel.es] has quit [Ping timeout: 246 seconds] 21:34 -!- moli [~molly@unaffiliated/molly] has quit [Quit: Leaving] 21:42 -!- moli [~molly@unaffiliated/molly] has joined #lightning-dev 22:03 -!- moli [~molly@unaffiliated/molly] has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds] 22:07 -!- moli [~molly@unaffiliated/molly] has joined #lightning-dev 23:36 -!- Ylbam [uid99779@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-kngbhmmevrlyjejz] has joined #lightning-dev
