rusty2> NicolasDorier: cool! 20:25 -!- rusty2 is now known as rusty 20:26 < rusty> NicolasDorier: I had been discussion with cdecker that we could use a controlled testnet for level-2-on-bitcoin development. That would avoid the massive reorgs of testnet, instead offering a predictable reorg schedule and a way to push conflicting txs into branches. 20:33 < gmaxwell> I suggested a bit ago that it would be interesting to use signed blocks with two allowed keys, where blocks that will be reorged out are always signed with one, and blocks that will stay are signed with the other. Then you could pick if you get reorgs or not just by setting a switch to accept unreliable blocks. 20:38 < rusty> gmaxwell: I proposed to hack something together by providing a script for -blocknotify (which would check coinbase for sig and use invalidateblock) and a set of canned bootstrap peers. That way it works out-of-box. 20:42 < rusty> gmaxwell: also, fork pattern would be something like, (single block-removed fork), (2-block-removed-fork),(3-block-removed-fork), then the same pattern repeated, except forking back so original fork re-wins. So given height N you can determine exactly what's happening. With a new best block every 30 seconds or so. 20:43 < rusty> gmaxwell: ideally some simple web API to submit conflicting txs in the next fork if possible. 21:18 < NicolasDorier> rusty: why not using the current segnet ? 21:18 < NicolasDorier> oh 21:19 < rusty> NicolasDorier: Is that still alive? I think we want something longer term for all layer-2 usage, though. 21:19 < NicolasDorier> ok, it is a good idea, I may get smartbit offer a graphical block explorer if we decide to go that route (along with my qbit ninja explorer) 21:24 < NicolasDorier> The "chaosnet" 23:25 -!- Ylbam [uid99779@gateway/web/irccloud.com/x-uxvioaayeklagzga] has joined #lightning-dev
