11:08 < BlueMatt[m]> Fuck. So I meant to bring it up in the meeting but I forgot (well, and lnd wasn’t there), but the LSP spec folks were looking at how to re-route HTLCs on a 0conf channel talking a few but without making the sender pay it.
11:08 < BlueMatt[m]> I suggested that maintaining the “htlc end-to-end principle” is good, if it’s practical, ie to not have the LSP rewrite the onion.
11:09 < BlueMatt[m]> However, to do that you either need to issue an invoice for less than the payment (and re-add the fee as the last hop), something which has confusing ux for the sender, or have the recipient have an option to accept a payment even though the union says the amount is more than the htlc is for
11:10 < BlueMatt[m]> The second seems to maintain a number of nice properties of lightning, but does require a slight tweak to implementations which desire to support being LSP “clients” (which I think is all of them - us obv, phoenix obv, CLN via greenlight, lnd for breez)
11:11 < BlueMatt[m]> I don’t know that it strictly needs a bolt, maybe a blip, cause it’s not raspy normative behavior for normal lightning nodes, more behavior on specific channels with special negotiation with the LSP

11:13 < BlueMatt[m]> So two questions - (a) how big a deal would such a chance be in your code (I hope almost nothing - just relax one check based on configuration/plugin settings?) and (b) do you think you can deploy this on a reasonable timeline (let’s say, a few months or your next release) - the LSP folks are somewhat antsy about delays in available implementations causing their work to be left unused.
