00:25 < kanzure> So since it's just the application of energy and raw materials in bruteforce tactics in the first place, solutions will always be constrained on the input processes that are feeding the entire system (autotrophy designs); so in this case it probably leads back to the idea of the conversion of 3D volume into 2D surfaces to harvest photons/quanta-of-energy from the local star.

00:28 < kanzure> Actually, mechanical rollers/flatterners might be sufficient for a bootstrapping proc for orbital / extraplanetary material deconstruction. As long as the energy input provided by the 2D surface is greater than the energy required to fix the metal used to crush flatten the rocks/metal in the first place, all is well.
00:28 < kanzure> Besides, many manufacturing facilities are apparently completely abrasive and lose their metals. So a replacement strategy would be acceptable.
