19:55 < kanzure> spaced repetition didn't work out for me. my numbner of items was increasing faster than the linear amount of time i have available.
19:55 < kanzure> once you get to 200,000 items the different spaced repetition programs can't really service your memory unless you spend 8+ hours/day on it
20:05 < maaku> I found space repetition only really useful for situations where you needed to learn a shit-ton of things to get up to speed, then once you're up to speed and effective, drop it
20:05 < maaku> E.g. language learning -- learn 10,000 or so sentences and then once you're able to read books and converse, drop it.
20:06 < maaku> In this case it only took a few hundred before she was capable of reading Dr. Suisse, and there wasn't much point in continuing after that. It's value was being a 'game' that was fun to do for 5-10min per day while building the base skill
