10:51 < nmz787__> any tips here on tree-based biofuel energy conversion? I'm buying a house on timberland, and there's a bunch of logs and "slash" left over from the last time it was logged (a few years ago and some more recent due to septic system replacement)
10:52 < nmz787__> I seem to recall the hard part of burning trees efficiently is the water, which would require me to at least cover the material... as well as having, idk, a steam generator or something hooked up to the firebox

11:16 < nmz787__> the "dumb" alternatives are to just burn it all in place (like 20ft per side cubes, at least, maybe 30ft) or mulch it (I will have lots of trails and such to cover with mulch, so that isn't a terrible idea in reality)
11:19 < fenn> gasifiers are big barrel/trash can things that turn wood into carbon monoxide that you feed into an internal combustion engine

11:20 < L29Ah> if you aren't a fan of solid fuel heating, just forget about it
11:21 < L29Ah> there are automatic pellet boilers tho that alleviate the hassles tied to the solid fuel burning, kinda pricey tho, and you need to pelletize your fuel also
