15:09 < lsneff> They technically can, thought it's unknown if they do in the brain, but they have a significant effect on neurons/synapses that they connect to.
15:10 < lsneff> They appear to regulate hebbian learning, increase energy efficiency
15:10 < lsneff> Synchronize larger areas of the greater neural network
15:11 < lsneff> My hunch is that they're key to figuring out the learning rules behind biological networks
15:11 < lsneff> But that's beyond the scope of my work
15:12 < lsneff> At some point, when compute is a bit cheaper, I think I'm going to try implementing a evolutionary search through spiking network learning rules
