Very good explanation of why it’s so hard to modify DNA, which makes sense, as most creatures don’t want to become a bioreactor for an intracellular parasite. I was going to ask if some company could just switch to injecting people with follistatin 315 mRNA vaccines. I dont know if that would be something that was possible or if I’m just highly 17:01 < hprmbridge> Eli> regarded. But a brief glance over the literature makes me think it’s irrelevant, because there appears to be little data on the safety profile of follistatin. The studies I saw seemed to mostly be using low n-values. And there are possible theoretical concerns with cancer. This seems like one of those substances where most of the evidence would be found in gym locker rooms rather than academic 17:01 < hprmbridge> Eli> journals. Underground gym bro science isn’t necessarily bad if you just want an additional data point, but it tends not to focus on long term safety outcomes. 17:31 -!- tinwhiskers [~tinwhiske@user/tinwhiskers] has quit [Quit: later] 17:36 -!- tinwhiskers [~tinwhiske@user/tinwhiskers] has joined #hplusroadmap 18:00 -!- darsie [~darsie@84-112-12-36.cable.dynamic.surfer.at] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 18:16 < hprmbridge> yashgaroth> there's plenty of animal data on follistatin, at least. But mRNA doesn't last very long, nor does it deliver enough to make a lot of protein. It's enough for your body to notice and attack it, when combined with a bunch of adjuvants, but that's about it. And the liposomes needed to get it inside cells efficiently is also quite toxic, so you can't just arbitrarily bump up the dose 20:44 -!- mxz__ [~mxz@user/mxz] has joined #hplusroadmap 20:45 -!- mxz [~mxz@user/mxz] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds] 20:45 -!- mxz__ is now known as mxz 20:46 -!- mxz_ [~mxz@user/mxz] has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds] 21:56 -!- Gooberpatrol66 [~Gooberpat@user/gooberpatrol66] has quit [Ping timeout: 268 seconds] 22:06 -!- Gooberpatrol66 [~Gooberpat@user/gooberpatrol66] has joined #hplusroadmap 22:52 -!- mxz_ [~mxz@user/mxz] has joined #hplusroadmap --- Log closed Sat Apr 27 00:00:38 2024
