13:20 < achow101> for silent payments, we currently have a sp(key, key) descriptor, but thinking on this further and actually trying to implement its usage in core, I'm not entirely sure if descriptors is actually the right route. any thoughts on this?

13:22 <@sipa> it certainly seems like a concept that deviates quite a bit from descriptors currently (as there is no clear path from the descriptor to scriptPubKey(s))
13:23 < achow101> and I think one of the restrictions we have currently is that the key expressions cannot be ranged
13:24 < achow101> the thinking was that it would be easier to implement but i'm finding that that's not really true
13:25 < achow101> and descriptors is really nice for portability to other software
