For now, the function takes in the minimum supported version number and returns the version number in Ok() and returns a not compatible error message in Err()....

I'll get access to a linux system in around 3 days, till then I can't compile revaultd since it only works in linux... I have written an isolated function for now...

So I was thinking if you could review a dpaste link or similar then when I get the linux system day after tomorrow, I would make a pull request after testing on the system? I can make a pull request now too.... Let me know how to proceed :)
